Dealing with 'update failed' messages.

I am getting a large number of 'update failed' messages. What can I do?

3B is designed for broadband connections of 512k upwards. This message means that the computer is not able to download the web site fast enough. It's possible that your connection is operating at a slower speed.

You could try adjusting a setting so that fewer windows attempt to update simulataneously. In the Menu click on Options and then Preferences. In the box that appears, select the Performance tab at the top. Under 'Display window downloading' move the slider one notch to the left.

The above setting change is described in detail with pictures in the Help function which is accessible from the 3B browser menu. In the Help menu follow Preferences > Performance Settings > Display window download settings.
