3B says my hardware or software is not supported
Question
3B says my hardware or software is not supported
Answer
In order for 3B to run, your machine or its software needs to meet some basic system requirements which are not challenging for most modern machines.

Unfortunately there is a small amount of hardware (machine) and software which matches these requirements but are not compatible with 3B.

Incompatible graphics software
The good news is that this issue can probably be remedied for free. There are a small number of graphics drivers that we believe are buggy. If you have one of the following, we strongly recommend that you upgrade your driver, especially if you tend to use screensavers or lock your machine - the interaction with 3B could crash your machine. These drivers are:

  • ATI 6.14.10.6583
  • ATI 6.14.10.6462
  • ATI FireGL 8800 (make sure you have the latest driver)

Follow these links to upgrade drivers for ATI drivers, Nvidia or Intel graphics

How to check your driver version
Click on your Windows Start menu and then select the Run option. This will pop up a window with an input box labelled 'Open:' Enter 'DXdiag' in the input area and press return. This will pop up a diagnostic screen. Select the Display tab. The driver version is shown on this screen.

    Incompatible graphics hardware
3B does not support the following graphics cards. If you really want to run 3B unfortunately the only solution is to buy another graphics card, which is a relatively inexpensive upgrade.
